The primary focus of the AAMU Band Boosters Association is to promote the well-being of the AAMU Band program, financially and morally, while including family, friends, and former members.

Article I. Officers, Elections, and Duties.
(a) President- The President is the executive officer responsible for the operation of the group. He or she presides at meetings, calls regular or special meetings of the Board or membership as needed, appoints the Chairpersons of standing or special committees.
(b) Vice President - The Vice President acts as President in the absence or illness of the President and in the event of the President's resignation or incapacity to serve shall succeed to the office until the next regular election of officers. The President may delegate to the Vice President such official or other duties as may be necessary for the conduct of business.
(c) Treasurer - The Treasurer is responsible for the collection of dues and charges; for the disbursement to the AAMU Band Program and for payment of authorized expenditures. The Treasurer advises the Board about the finances of the organization and assists in formulating the budgets for the regular and special activities. The Treasurer also prepares a yearly financial statement of operations.
(d) Secretary - The Secretary keeps records and minutes of meetings; maintains an up-to-date list of members, attenders and subscribers; sends notices and flyers; receives and distributes information from other groups and organizations.
(e) 3 Era Representatives: (Serve as member-at-large, liaisons between officers and members to add balance)

(f) Public Relations - Engage in promoting or creating good will for individuals, groups, or organizations by writing or selecting favorable publicity material and releasing it through various communications outlets. May prepare and arrange displays, and make speeches.
(g) Fundraising Committee– Ensures a specific fundraising target, to identify how much money might be raised from different types of resources. Identify specific and potential sources of funds from a diverse mix of sources. Develop an action plan about who is going to approach a fundraising source.
Section 1. The elected officers of AAMU Band Boosters Association shall be the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasure, each elected annually from the organization membership. All positions are open to the AAMU Band Boosters members during the election period and nominations except for the President to which the President must have been a member of the AAMU Band Program. The elected officers shall appoint a Parliamentarian and such other officers as shall be deemed desirable. The President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer are preferred, but not required to be in or around the City of Huntsville, Alabama, however you must be accessible to the AAMU Band Staff. The Era Representatives are not deemed to be in or around the city of Huntsville, however, must be accessible to meetings
Section 2. The officers shall be elected as follows:
On or before the regularly-scheduled April (General Election month) meeting of the governing body, the elected officers shall appoint a Nominating Committee comprised of seven representatives. The Nominating Committee shall accept nominations and recommendations from members of the elected officers no later than March. The meeting shall determine whether nominees will consent to serve if elected, and shall prepare a slate of candidates with at least one nominee for each position. Members of the elected officers shall be advised of such slate of candidates with at least one nominee for each position. Members of the elected officers shall be advised of such slate of candidates at least two week prior to the regularly-scheduled May meeting.
Section 3: The Board will meet a minimum of twice annually. *One meeting shall be scheduled during AAMU homecoming week.
a) The quorum for transaction of business is at least half of the Officers and Board members at large.
b) A majority of those Board members present is necessary to transact any business brought before the Board.
Section 4: Election of Officers and Board members at large. Officers and Board members at large are elected at the Annual Meeting of the Membership and take office on two weeks after election (date or # days after election).
a) Two months before the annual meeting, the President appoints a Nominating Committee of three or more members of the AAMU Band Boosters Association.
b) The Nominating Committee reports its slate of nominees for existing vacancies to the membership two weeks prior to the annual meeting.
c) Additional nominations may also be made by written petition of five members or from the floor at the annual meeting; provided the consent of the nominees has been obtained.
d) A majority of those voting is required for election to office. In the event of a runoff.
Article II. Membership
Membership is open to all former band members, general public, family, and friends who are supporters financially via dues paid to the AAMU Band Boosters Association.
a) Members in good standing are entitled to attend general and special meetings; to vote on all questions coming before the membership; to hold office and serve on standing or special committees.
b) Members are welcome to attend meetings of the Board and to participate in discussions on matters before the Board, but without a vote on matters before the Board.
c) Membership dues and privileges are determined by the Board. Only those persons whose membership is paid for the current year will be members in good standing.
d) The Board may, at its discretion, terminate the membership of any person at any time by returning that person's current dues.
e) Membership dues are collected at the beginning of the fiscal year from May through end of April.
Article III. Officers and decision-making.
Section 1: Meetings of the Membership.
a) The Annual Meeting of the Membership shall be held each year in the month of May for the election of Officers, members at large and the transaction of any necessary business.
b) Special meetings of the membership may be called by the President at his or her discretion, or at the direction of the Director of the Band Program, or at the written request of at least 10% of the membership. Notices of special meetings shall state the matters to be considered.
c) At least one week's notice of the annual or any special meeting shall be given.
d) The quorum for transaction of business is 10% of the membership.
e) A majority vote of those voting is necessary to transact any business brought before the membership, including the election of officers, except as otherwise noted in these bylaws.
f) If AAMU band association dissolves all remaining money will be donated to the AAMU Foundation.
Article IV. General, special, and annual meetings (Meetings of Members)
Section I: Fiscal Year. The fiscal year of AAMU Band Boosters Association is May 1 through April 30
Section II: Amendments to the Bylaws. Amendments to these Bylaws may be made upon one month's written notice to members; this notice must state the proposed changes. A two-thirds majority vote of those voting is required for adoption.
Article V. Committee Chairs
The Committee will meet a minimum of twice annually. *One meeting shall be scheduled during AAMU homecoming week.
a) Anyone may serve in the committees as long as they are a financial member.
b) The quorum for transaction of business is at least half of the Officers and Board members at large.
c) A majority of those Committee members present is necessary to transact any business brought before the Board.
